Greenhouse exports reach $ 1 billion

He announced that the export of greenhouse products in 1997 was more than $ 500 million and said: “For 1998, the value of exporting greenhouse products is expected to reach $ 1 billion with a doubling of growth.”
Bani-Ameri continued: “Iran is almost the first country in the world to develop greenhouse products in terms of quantitative growth.”
Noting that 2,650 hectares of greenhouses were built and commissioned in the country last year, the official said: “In 1998, we are going to double the level of greenhouses, because the greenhouse sector is in terms of knowledge, technology and integration.” Along with other sectors, it is a symbol of food security in the country. He pointed out that it is possible to produce greenhouse products during the year, he said: in the greenhouse space, 10 liters less water is consumed per kilogram of crop, so Greenhouses are a good way out of the current water crisis.
The executor of the country’s greenhouse development project announced that the total export of the country’s agricultural products is $ 5.4 billion and said that 50% of this amount is related to the horticulture sector.
Bani Ameri continued: “Currently, greenhouses have an economic performance of 500,000 Tomans per square meter or 100 kg per square meter in some products due to their high performance per unit area.”
According to the official in charge of greenhouse production, it is not only related to flowers and plants, but also includes three main groups such as vegetables and summer crops, fruits and flowers and ornamental plants.
The executor of the country’s greenhouse development plan said about the latest situation of the export market of greenhouse products: “In terms of logistical issues, labor and energy have caused us to have good competition in terms of greenhouse products in target markets compared to other countries.”
The report adds: The 4th Iran Sabz International Exhibition started today with the participation of dozens of domestic and foreign companies and with the presence of officials from the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, Agricultural Engineering Organization, Ministry of Industry, Mines and heads of related unions and associations at Tehran International Exhibition Center. .
The exhibition features more than 100 domestic and foreign companies involved in horticulture, the greenhouse industry, inputs, machinery and equipment, irrigation, flowers and plants, and related industries.
This exhibition has been set up with the approach of achieving the goals of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture for sustainable production, economizing the production and health of products using the strategy of developing greenhouse cultivation and water management and agricultural irrigation.
The 4th Iran Sabz International Exhibition is ready to be visited for 3 days from today until April 15 at the permanent location of Tehran International Exhibitions.
